The idea
Creating links on Windows means remembering mklink switches in a command prompt.
Designed for developers, gamers and anyone on Windows who moves folders between drives or shares files between apps.
About this product
Links let one folder or file appear in two places: move a big game or project folder to another drive and leave a link behind, share one config file between apps, or point a tool at a folder without copying it. Windows can do all of this, but only through the mklink command, with switches that are easy to mix up.
Solace Links puts it in a small window. Choose file or folder mode, pick (or drag in) where the link should go and give it a name, pick the real file or folder it should point to, choose symbolic link, hard link or junction, and click Create link. If something with that name is already there, it asks before replacing it. It has no updater, no account and no network calls.
System and package
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit
- Administrator permission when the app starts (Windows requires it for symbolic links)
- Self-contained build: no separate .NET runtime install is needed (the download is about 58 MB)
- Verify the published SHA-256 checksum before use
Install
Deleting a link removes only the link, not the target. Moving or deleting a target breaks symbolic links and junctions that point to it.
Back up important data before reorganising folders with links.
First launch on Windows
The app isn’t code-signed yet, so the first time you open it Windows may show “Windows protected your PC.” Click More info, then Run anyway. After you buy, you can check the ZIP against the SHA-256 on this page. Questions: solacesoftware@smilingface.cloud
Published package checksum
After you buy, you can check that your download is exactly this file: same name, same size, same SHA-256.
- File: Solace-Links-4.1.0-solace.3-Windows-x64.zip
- Size: 58052156 bytes
- SHA-256:
